Top 5 Events in Murray this November
If you are living away from home, such as on or off-campus, and looking for a few ways to explore the city and all it has to offer, November is a great time to do so. In this area, temperatures are getting colder this month, but there is still time to explore the area. It’s also the start of the holiday season and with that typically comes lots of fun things to see and do. Here are some recommendations in the heart of Murray.
Fighting Back 5K & Fun Run
One of the best ways to spend a few hours is to give back to people that need it the most. The Fighting Back 5K and Fun Run isn’t about getting the best time but helping to do something for others. It works to raise money for Rock Steady Boxing, a local program that provides non-contact boxing classes for people who struggle with Parkinson’s disease. The event is a lot of fun and takes place at Murray’s Central Park. You can register for it online or visit Murray First United Methodist Church to learn more. Get some friends together to help raise money for a good, local cause.
Murray, KY Holiday Open House Weekend
The holidays are a big deal for many people in the Murray area. That is why you are sure to see several current events related to the area’s holiday celebrations. One such event is the Holiday Open House Weekend. Many of the businesses in the county celebrate with special events and fun experiences. It is all about getting people out and about for the holidays while also encouraging support for local companies. Many times, there are restaurants with special deals, coffee shops with special holiday treats, and lots of good cheer. Each business chooses what they would like to do to honor this event, but many participate in some way.
Around the World in 8 Games
If you are looking for something to do close to home – as in on the Murray State Campus – check out the Around the World in 8 Games. It is a fun evening where you and some friends can come and hang out playing board games. You can play a number of different tabletop games with friends or meet some new people while doing so. Games include Koi Koi, Loteria, Rummikub, Mille Bornes, Perudo, and numerous others. There is no cost for the event, but it is a great way to meet other people and laugh for a few hours while you do it. You just have to be a student of the college to attend.
Fall Festival 2021 - Hope Harbor Church
For fall fun, check out the Fall Festival 2021 at Hope Harbor Church. You do not have to be a member or religious to attend. It is a lot of fun, though. The event includes lots of games and good food. There is a hayride, pony rides, and even a petting zoo. It’s not just for kids, either. All are welcome. It is a good way to get outdoors, grab some healthy and fun foods, and have fun with a few friends.
